Jonathan Barlow – Vitality Obstacle Fitness

Athletic background?  4 yrs Track & Field, 4 yrs Powerlifting, 4 yrs Gymnastics, 5 yrs Strongman, 2 yrs Scottish Heavy Athletics, 6 yrs Climbing, 1 yr Cheerleading, 3 yrs Armwrestling, 4 yrs Parkour, 2 yrs Cycling

How long obstacle course training?  About a month so far.

Why obstacle training?   I used to watch the Japanese “Sasuke” on TV and I’ve always wanted to try it. It seems like a great demonstration of practical strength and agility and a lot of fun as well.

Why compete?  Motivation?  To have fun and develop my strength and fitness.

Favorite obstacle?  Least favorite obstacle?  Salmon Ladder > Peg Board

Personal interests (movies, hobbies, music, books, charities, etc.)?  I’ve been eating a plant-based diet for about 12 years.

Something interesting about you?  I spent 3 years traveling and training around Vietnam where I met my wife, also a ninja athlete.

Motto or how you live your life?  Just do whatever you enjoy, as much as you can.

Piece of advice for obstacle course training?   Keep a good diet, take adequate rest, train with people that motivate you. Advice for any sport.
