Here we have competitor Marybeth, age 34, Tampa, FL.
Athletic background? Gymnast from the ages of 9 – 18yrs. Loved playing all sports recreationally growing up, especially beach volleyball. Rowed on the Crew Team in College.
How long obstacle course training? Since 2011.
Why obstacle training? After having my 2 boys, I wanted to get back into something that was challenging and fun like the sport of gymnastics. I’m really good at upper body strength stuff, so it was a perfect fit.
Why compete? Motivation? I am naturally a very competitive person, so this gives me an outlet for that and a place I can do something for me and pursue ambitions outside of being a mom and wife.
My family is a huge motivation as well as all the kids that I coach at my gym, Jubilee Gymnastics. They are crazy about ninja warrior and are so proud to have their coach be “on TV!!”
Favorite obstacle? Pole grasper, windchimes, rumbling dice.
Least favorite obstacle? Salmon ladder and warped wall.
Personal interests (movies, hobbies, music, books, charities, etc.)? Not much of a movie watcher or book reader…haven’t figured out how to make the time. Personal interests right now are my business, Jubilee Gymnastics, and figuring out how to expand and grow.
Something interesting about you? I have traveled to more than 10 foreign countries. Starting in highschool, I tried to do 1-2 mission trips each year. I love traveling and exploring new cultures and sharing the love of Jesus with those I meet.
Motto or how you live your life? “Love God, Love People, Inspire Others”.
Piece of advice for obstacle course training? Often times, there is more than one way to complete an obstacle…I work at finding the most efficient way…it has served me well 🙂
Social media info, pics, videos, other links? Nah, not much of a social media guru 😉
