Kimberly Proctor – WARRIOR SPORTS Gym

Athletic background?  I was a competitive gymnast through middle school and continued tumbling through a couple years of high school. I also competed in track and field (hurdles mostly).

How long obstacle course training?  About a year.

Why obstacle training?   I struggled finding an athletic outlet that I had as much of a passion for as I did for gymnastics. As soon as I set foot in Warrior Sports and got my hands on the obstacles I fell in love.


Why compete?  Motivation?  Competing was a huge part of my life for such a long time and I think I was missing it without even realizing it. It feels awesome to be able to perform all of the obstacles under pressure in front of people and succeed. My motivation for training and competing stems from my love for working towards my goals. Achieving long term goals is an amazing feeling.

Favorite obstacle? Least favorite obstacle?  My favorite obstacle is anything that involves laches.  Lache bars come naturally to me so it’s fun to have a challenge (especially when the boys are working on the same thing). Least favorite is definitely the warped wall.

Personal interests (movies, hobbies, music, books, charities, etc.)?  Obviously lots of athletics. I love slacklining, climbing, etc. Hanging out with friends and my boyfriend is a big part of my leisure time. I also enjoy quality time with my cats and chickens:)

Something interesting about you?  I don’t eat meat.

Motto or how you live your life?  Don’t live your life saying “I wish”. Go for all of your goals so you have no regrets.

Piece of advice for obstacle course training?  It is a process! Short term goals are very important. Try not to let mental blocks or frustrations affect your training. If you need to take a break from a certain obstacle and go back in with a fresh mind and body, do it. No one will judge you in this sport. Also- ask for advice! There are so many of us in this community now that all have different strengths. Having someone else help or explain something to you can do wonders.
