Alicia Kueker – Training All Over the Place!

Here we have competitor Alicia, age 25, from Perryville, Missouri but lives in Springfield IL.

Athletic background?  I played collegiate basketball at the University of Illinois Springfield for two years and also Southwestern Illinois College for two years.

How long obstacle course training?  I started training about 4 or 5 months ago.

Why obstacle training?   I missed competing in sports after I graduating college so I found a new love for obstacle training.  I enjoy being able to compete in something that most of the population hasn’t even attempted.  To so many people, it looks impossible and I like the feeling of conquering the impossible.

Why compete?  Motivation?  I have always been a competitive person whether it’s who can jump the highest or who can drive a car the fastest.  Competing is a part of my athletic nature.  As far as motivation goes, I am my own motivation.  Of course, I look up to all the veteran ninjas or female ninjas who inspire me, but at the end of the day I want to be the best I can be.

Favorite obstacle? Least favorite obstacle?  My favorite obstacle is the warped wall.  However, some warped walls are very tricky, so I also enjoy the cliffhanger! 🙂 My least favorite obstacle is the Arm Bike.

Personal interests (movies, hobbies, music, books, charities, etc.)?  I enjoy most sports, but especially basketball.  (Watching, playing, or coaching)  I enjoy reading books written by great coaches such as Pat Summit or Mike Krzyzewski.  I like being outdoors, anywhere close to a beach and I love to longboard! Other than that, I obviously love fitness, including lifting, rock climbing, or swinging on things.

Something interesting about you?  I am addicted to peanut butter.

Motto or how you live your life?  I like to live my life thinking that I am capable of all things.  I truly believe we can do anything that we set our minds to.  Mindset is such a huge thing in life.  Once people understand that factor, that is when they really blossom.  “The body achieves what the mind believes.”

Piece of advice for obstacle course training?  Put your mind to the test before your body.  Small progressions matter & don’t give up!
